On February 13, 2021, Customs controlled three passengers at International Airport Reina Beatrix, who arrived from Mexico on a private plane. They had a total of 22.000 dollars in their possession. It was suspicious that they divided the money between them to stay below the limit that needs to be declared.
The passengers gave contradicting explanations and could not explain where the money came from. They were handed over to the police, and after the interrogation, they distanced themselves from the money. The criminal case ended, and they will not be persecuted anymore. This money will go directly to the crime-fighting fund. Aruba’s ‘Afpakteam’ visibly wants to contribute to this.
