A 27-year-old American tourist filed a complaint that they were sexually assaulted during the weekend. It appears they were very drunk.
Friday heading into Saturday they called the police to attend their case on the beach. The tourist was substantially drunk and asleep on the beach. At first, it was believed to be two tourists, but it turns out to just have been one female tourist who had just finished having an all-out trip on a catamaran.
Interrogators of the ‘Jeugd en Zeden’ (youth and morals) police attended the case right after the police that were called left the scene. They took the tourist to the hospital to use a rapekit to confirm whether or not there was evidence of sexual assault regarding her private parts. We are now waiting for the results of this medical examination.
It is unclear as to who the perpetrator is or what exactly happened. At first, it was mentioned that it was a worker on the catamaran who sexually assaulted the tourist, but this has yet to be confirmed. As of now, there is a suspicion that no rape actually occurred. But of course, adequate research must be done to uncover the truth.
We will be pending this coming week to see what will happen. Many tourists get completely drunk and other people will take advantage of the situation and commit sexual assault, which is wrong. There are tourists who will have sexual relations while under the influence and claim to be sexually assaulted after the fact. These situations happen and they must always be kept into account when conducting investigations such as this one.
