This afternoon an unfortunate event took place on the road when the transport vehicle for the K9 Justitie (justice) unit caught fire. The van had to suddenly stop along the side of the road to get the situation under control.
This took place at around 4:00 pm on a road in Pos Chikito. The Hyundai Tucson stopped near the Spaans Lagoen. The police showed up to report the incident.
Upon arrival, the fire was already under control. It was understood that the dogs were safely evacuated from this car and transported to safety in a colleague’s car. The vehicle in question contains KIA’s K9 unit and the reason the car suddenly ignited is unknown.
According to the workers, this is one of the many problems they are faced with. A lack of resources is a prominent issue at KIA. Luckily no people or animals were harmed during this incident. There was only material damage.
