The public’s behavior changed COVID measures

Aside from the adaptations made to the existing measures, the Prime Minister Evelyn Wever Croes made a strong appeal to the community to continue following them.

“Let us tighten the belt once more. The light is at the end of the tunnel. The vaccine, the measures, and the police instated to make sure they are abided by, are not the solution right now. It is in each of our own hands to care for ourselves and for the rest of the community”, the minister said before Sharin Koolman announced the changes.

The last measures were enforced in November, and today’s announcement made a few adaptations to those existing measures. The stay-at-home curfew and the rules concerning prohibited areas will stay the same. The curfew is from midnight to 5:00 am and certain areas, such as beaches, are prohibited from 7:00 pm till 5:00 am.

Permission will not be granted for any social event, which includes camping, get-togethers at ranches, and on the coast or reef.

Whereas before there we 25 people allowed at a funeral or burial, that number has now been lowered to 10 people. As for sports, individual sports will be permitted as well as team sports but without equipment. It goes without saying that there is an emphasis placed on following the proper protocols with regard to hygiene.

At restaurants, you were permitted to be seated with 4 people at the same table inside, and 6 people at the same table outside. Now the limit is 2 people per table. Only one musician is permitted at the venue and dancing is prohibited. Gatherings have been limited to two people and bars will be shut down. Lastly, there will be no visitors allowed at home.

These measures will be reassessed every three days to determine whether they should be adapted or not. These measures are taken due to the increase in positive cases.
