Fewer contagion but more patients arriving

According to Aruba’s Public Health Department (DVG), the total number of people who have recuperated yesterday was 103. There were 45 new cases of COVID-19, of which 11 are non-residents. The total number of tests performed at the various locations, namely the hospital lab, private labs, and the airport test was 761. The positivity rate among residents was 30%.

As of yesterday, there were 619 active cases and the number of deaths related to COVID-19 was 82. It is important to underline that of the ABC islands, Aruba has the most COVID-19 related deaths. Curaçao has 30, while Bonaire only has 10.

The hospital has informed us that of the 44 people they are treating, 14 are in the Intensive Care and 30 are in the general internal COVID-19 unit. This is quite a feat considering the fact that there are people arriving at the hospital daily who are having trouble breathing and have to be admitted right away and connected to a respiratory machine.
