Due to penal investigation: the Aruban government has fallen

In the early hours of the afternoon, the Prime Minister of Aruba, Evelyn Wever-Croes informed us that she will be retiring from the Wever-Croes cabinet. This occurred after the Public Ministry started an ongoing investigation into the POR fraction concerning the embezzlement of funds.

Evelyn Wever-Croes took some time before leaving the governor’s cabinet, in this case to interim governor Yvonne Lacle-Dirks after handing in her letter of resignation.

There were various politicians that gave their commentary and distanced themselves from the POR party, suspecting the Public Ministry of embezzling funds. Additionally, the opposing party AVP, also came forth with a comment regarding the decision for the government to step down.
