Today the Public Prosecutor’s released a press release announcing an investigation into the political fraccion POR, which is suspected of embezzlement. Integrity and good government has been on the forefront of the Wever-Croes’ agenda and the violation thereof with the announcement of this investigation, it is taken very seriously.
After the announcement, the Government consulted on what the best course of action would be in relation to this violation of their integrity by one of the coalition’s member. The severity of the situation was of such a magnitude that the only conclusion the Government could have come to, was to resign and dissolve the Parliament.
Based on the above mentioned, the Council of the Ministers empowered the Prime Minister to hand the Governor of Aruba the resignation of the Prime Minister, every other minister, and the decision to dissolve the Parliament.
The demissionary Government of Wever-Croes 1 will only attend to ongoing issues on the agenda until the next Government is formed. The Corona crisis is considered as an ongoing issue and will thus continue to be handled by the demissionary Government.
A new date for the elections will soon be announced.
