Airport: airlines increasing the capacity to Aruba

The International Airport Reina Beatrix (AUA Airport) is happy to share that its air traffic numbers are stably rising, seeing as how the demand for travel is increasing in America. It is expected that the total quantity of movement will surpass 151 flights and 15,932 arrivals during the first week of April 2021.

The busiest arrival days are expected to be this Saturday the 10th of April when AUA Airport will be receiving 3500 passengers aboard 30 aircrafts.

The American recuperation was strong: “the total seat capacity” reached 72% of 2019 (before the pandemic) in the first quarter of 2021. Slowly but surely, the data is indicating that with every week that passes the market from the most crucial places will be recuperating. The focus will remain on “traveler confidence” in the second quarter of 2021.

The industry is still awaiting whether or not there will be such a thing as a vaccination passport. “We are anxious to see the aerial movement stably rising, especially from our main market (the United States). We are hopeful that the airlines from America will return to their pre-pandemic numbers during the summer of 2021. We are also noticing an increase in the weekly “passenger load factor” (the percentage of occupied seats aboard a plane), which is now 64% compared to the 85% “load factor” in 2019, according to Aruba Airport Authority N.V’s Development Manager, Jo-Anne Meaux-Arends.
