Local talent forms a part of the Eurovision Songfestival

Eurovision is one of Europe’s most prestigious song festivals. It was started almost 65 years ago, on the 24th of May 1956.

This year the festival will be taking place in The Netherlands, where it was supposed to take place last year but was canceled due to COVID-19.

The principal date will be the 18th of May when all the semifinals of the 39 countries participating will take place. The finals will be taking place on the 20th and 21st of May.

The beauty in all of this is that local talent, Jeremy Garcia, who also participated in The Voice of Holland, will form a part of the crew as a stand-in singer together with other talented artists. Aside from this, he is also working on his first album, which will serve as his graduation project.

We should be proud that one of our local talents will be forming a part of such a majestic festival.

Jeremy Garcia, together with a colleague are both students at the Albeda MBO in the Netherlands and stand-in for various acts. They perform together with the other singers and dancers. The rehearsals are currently ongoing in collaboration with the television crew as well, to make sure they get the best shots during the real performance. In total, 41 countries will be participating, which means that every last artistic aspect will need to be planned out properly.

We congratulate Jeremy Garcia for putting Aruba on the map in relation to such a prestigious festival.

We still remember our cherished local, Efraim Benita, who represented Estonia as Dave Benton in the 2001 Eurovision Songfestival, and who went on to win together with Tanel Padar.

With Garcia’s participation in the Eurovision crew, it goes to show that our talent is not only recognized in The Netherlands but all around the world.
