A little before 6:00 pm we received information about people who fell in the water between Andicuri and the Natural Bridge. Police and ambulances were dispatched to the area immediately. In the meantime, people at the scene managed to get one of the victims out of the water and started performing first aid, to no avail.
That is when they noticed the second person still struggling in the water. Luckily, this person was able to hold on to a rock, which likely saved their lives. Because of the rough nature of the water and its intense waves, it was of utmost importance that we got this person out of there as fast as possible before they are swept away.
As soon as the ambulance arrives, the paramedics attempted first aid on the victim who was on shore already. Sadly, the victim remained unresponsive. As a result of this, doctor Texier was called to the scene to declare their death. The victim support team was also called to aid the remaining tourists who were a part of the same ATV group as the two victims.
