COVID measures will be lessened on Monday

Aruba is recuperating and the number of cases has been staying below 30. This is largely thanks to the number of people who have been vaccinated, and starting tomorrow, on the 3rd of July, children from the ages of 12 to 17 can also get vaccinated.

This will put Aruba on an even faster recuperation track. For these reasons, the safety measures put into place against COVID-19 will be lessened starting this Monday.

DVG’s Sherline Koolman states that during her meeting with the Crisis Team, came to the following conclusions:

As for closing hours, these will be going back to what every individual permit grants. Additionally, restaurants can 100% go back to normal and will no longer need to limit themselves to 10 people per table outside and 8 people per table inside.

There will no longer be the need for social distance. Therefore, dancing will no longer be prohibited either.

As for funerals, the latest protocol that was released a few weeks ago will stay. Namely that there will be plexiglass required in the casket, which will not change.

With regards to positive cases in isolation, nothing will change either. There is a control group at DVG, that will stay vigilant.

The checks at the border to enter Aruba and the necessary tests will also remain the same.

Casinos can also go back to their permitted operating hours.

As for musical events, that will remain unchanged for the time being. The Crisis Team still regards putting that many people together as too big of a risk. We will be waiting to see how the rest of the world deals with such matters before changing the safety measures.

Lastly, bars and nightclubs can operate according to their permit-allowed hours once again.
