Tuesday afternoon at around 4:00 pm, a forty-four ft yacht named Midnight Sun was confronted with serious issues out at sea. They sounded the alarms right away when they noticed their boat taking on water. They became seriously worried, however, the moment the motor shut off.
They tried everything in their power to reach land, but they were unsuccessful. It should also be mentioned that there were six tourists aboard who were starting to panic when they noticed what was happening.
From what we can understand, the boat’s captain reached out via the marine radio, and the authorities were mobilized immediately. Various police units as well as a police helicopter rushed to the area to gather information regarding the situation. The Coast Guard also went to the scene to guide the crewmembers to the pier in the Renaissance area, where they then managed to disembark safely. Two people remained on board to try and determine what went wrong, fix it, and have the yacht in tiptop shape once again.
Fortunately, everyone on board managed to get out unscathed.
