Carnaval to resume this July

Recently, SMAC sat with the Bureau for Disaster Relief Aruba (BRA) to discuss the topic of carnaval. For two years, carnaval celebrations have been cancelled due to the pandemic but this will finally change. At the end of the meeting, which was a positive one, Aruba’s biggest cultural celebration will resume.

BRA gave SMAC the green light to start preparations for carnaval events as well as the parades. The carnaval will resume in July 2022. On the other hand, SMAC asked to meet with the Minister of Finance and Culture, mr. Xiomara Maduro to discuss the news mentioned earlier.

SMAC is asking all carnaval groups and musicians to stay pending for the meeting which will be called to enhance Aruba’s carnaval. During the meeting, it will be definitively known which groups are able to participate in the carnaval coming July.
