More tourists for Aruba: CDC to change Aruba from the red list to orange

Effective tomorrow, 11th of April 2022, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in the United States will be changing Aruba from the list of high risk countries at level 4 to level 3. The Minister of Tourism, Dangui Oduber, published the encouraging news on his Facebook page. The changes are expected to bring a flow of tourists to our island which adds to our overall recovery of tourism and the economy. The CDC categorizes four levels in terms of risk associated with COVID-19. Level 4 is the highest, thus at this level it is recommended to avoid travel to these destinations. At level 3 the aforementioned recommendation is removed and instead it is recommended that travelers be fully vaccinated prior to travel to these destinations.

A few weeks ago, workers in the tourist sector, tour guide operators and some ‘watersports’ workers expressed their concern with the level imposed by the CDC as this has a negative impact for tourism on Aruba. With this welcome news, it is hoped that our the number of tourists will grow and we will continue our road to recovery.
