Since the minister of finance got a new car, it has become quite the hot topic amongst people who are demanding to know if this was a financially sound decision considering the high costs.
During the meeting with parliament, the minister responded to the controversy regarding her expensive new car. She made it clear that her car is by far not the most expensive of the vehicles being driven by a parliamentarian. During the press conference on Thursday, the Minister of Finance and Culture Xiomara Maduro stated that she does not want the important topic at hand to be overshadowed by drama concerning the costs of her vehicle.
She went on to say that she is tired of these conferences ending in irrelevant drama. “I drive an electric car, so my gas costs have gone down significantly and I have my car for the same reason that all the other ministers have a car”, she stated.
