Heartwarming Anne Frank commemoration

On Sunday the 12th of June, it was Anne Frank’s birthday and the AVP’s youth organization “Plataforma Hobennan Profesional” or (PHP) and Green Gen Z organized a commemoration to honor the life of an impactful young woman who left behind a powerful and memorable message.

The commemoration opened with a touching violin performance from the very talented Omar Kock who played the anthem as well as the score of the famous movie Schindler’s List. PHP Representatives, Wendrick Cicilia and Abigael Arends as well as Generacion Z’s, Jeanyra Yarzagaray, and Karyme Acosta accompanied by the “Arubaanse Padvindsters Gilde” also gave a tribute to Anne Frank with a wreath ceremony at her statue in Wilhelmina Park.

Rabbi Baruch held an oration in the memory of Anne Frank along with the millions who lost their lives during the Second World War.

AVP party leader Mike Eman closed the ceremony with a profound reflection on the necessity to reflect upon ourselves. Mike Eman emphasized how the pandemic showed the world that not everything is in our hands and that there are larger forces at play and that we must humble ourselves and remain steadfast in our faith. He showed this by stating that despite all the tragedies and hardships Anne Frank had to undergo, she never lost hope. A prime example for us all, Mike Eman said.

All in all, it was a lovely ceremony that ended with a beautiful performance by Eltienne Yarzagaray.
