Andrew Hoo (Aruba immigration): introducing new structure when traveling with a minor

The Aruba Immigartion has commenced with a new process, seeing as the vacation period is coming up. During the summer vacation, many people have plans to travel, and in some cases, minors are involved.

The Director of Immigration, Andrew Hoo, started out by explaining that the process used to be that a minor needed a written card that had to be signed by one of parents, in doing so, giving permission for the minor to leave the island.

This always used to delay the inspection process and was sometimes very confusing. When stipulated flight times are set, these are all things we would like to avoid if possible. Keeping this into account, the Aruba Immigration has introduced a new form ,which also keeps the child’s rights into account. This will hopefully prevent the aforementioned delays and will also seek to prevent instances of kidnapping.
There have been cases in which one parent takes advantage of the situation and leaves Aruba with the minor without the other parent even knowing.
