Intentional fire set at Coast Guard facility in Dakota

Screams and terror set the scene today around 6:05 pm when a detainee intentionally lit a fire inside one of the barracks at the Dakota Coast Guard facility. Coast Guard personnel immediately had their hands full when smoke started to gather inside the facility.

An evacuation process was immediately started. When the situation became uncontrollable inside the facility, police were called to support the Coast Guard personnel.

Two fire fighting brigades assisted with the fire and managed to quickly control the situation. Paramedics were also requested to assist some of the detainees who had inhaled smoke. The cooperation and work between the departments went well and the area was back to normal again after about an hour.
