Deugdelijk Bestuur Aruba foundation organizes workshop ‘towards Integrity In Aruba’

Last Wednesday, members of the private and public sector united to combat corruption in an interactive workshop titled ‘Towards Integrity in Aruba’, held at the ballroom at La Cabana Resort & Casino. The workshop was given by the “Stichting Deugdelijk Bestuur Aruba”, in collaboration with the Aruba Institute for Good Governance and Leadership of the University of Aruba, Saxion Hogeschool and HopeAruba Movement Foundation.

Armand Hessels of the “Stichting Deugdelijk Bestuur Aruba” started the morning by explaining the process that has been taking place for some years, to finally be able to reach the National Integrity System (NIS) Assessment for Aruba as well as expressed her enthusiasm to see this workshop finally become a reality.

Those participating in the workshop, which represent a wide variety of the sectors we have on the island, got the opportunity to share their thoughts regarding how we can stimulate and fortify the integrity of Aruba in the social, political, cultural, and economic fields. Some valuable points centered around the necessity for more awareness and the necessity to educate our community on the consequences of corruption, the possibility of fortifying the code of conduct in our public and private sectors and also the desire to see more transperity and exepmpliarynos behaviour from our leaders.

In the following months, there will be more workshops which will be diving deeper in the fundamental NIS rapport areas (social, political, cultural, and economical). The organizers of the workshop are happy to see that people are interested and that they are using their voices to take responsibility and create more active citizen in our community.
