Social Affairs department received new computers

On the 13th of October, the Minister for Justice and Social Affairs, Rocco Tjon, officially announced that the Department of Social Affairs (DAS) is receiving 100 new computers after 14 years.

It was the year 2006 when DAS last received 80 new computers, and in 2008, an additional 20 were added to this total. DAS has been providing services with these outdated and slow computers for the past few years, these computers were so old that they were not able to run the latest software.

The acquisition of these new computers, servers, and software was a joint effort from various companies on the island.Infotrans Caribbean Aruba was incharge of the server, computers (hard-drive), monitors and laptops. Netpro Group provided the ‘windows server licenses’ and PBS Aruba NV provided the ‘microsoft office licenses’. XA Tecnologies supported DAS and was the one to monitor the entire process.

The Department of Social Affairs is very grateful for everyone’s patients and to Minister Rocco Tjon for alottign some of his budget to this process of finally getting new  computers. In one month, DAS will start providing their services with their new computers and software updates.
