At 30.000 feet: “Dushi, will you marry me?”

On a Thursday morning flight between Bogota and Oranjestad, a very special event ocurred in which a man proposed to his girlfriend. This is not something extremely unusual to happen on a flight but it does not occur very often.

With around 30 minutes before arrival to Aruba, the stewardess called the name of a passenger to the front who was followed by her partner. When she turned around, her partner was on his knees with a ring in his hand and asked her to marry him.

“Dushi, will you marry me?”, were the words Richard Oviedo asked his now fiancee. They have been dating for a year now and were returning from a visit to his future family in Colombia.

The woman replied “Yes” at 30.000 feet in the air and the pair were then engaged. Oviedo is an employee of the Aruba Marriot Surf Club.

A word of congratulations to the happy couple who were applauded by the entire cabin who witnessed the special event.
