The ‘Motor Unit’ department of the Aruban Police Force organized various traffic controls around the island on Saturday to Sunday morning; Watty Vos Boulevard, ex-Codemnsa to paperclip roundabout, between Ponton and the Bushiti roundabout, ex-Codemsa to FCCA, on Green Corridor and between Mahuma and Sero Tijshi.
By the end of the evening, 42 fines were given to road users. Most for surpassing the speed limit of 80 km/h while the highest registered velocity was 147 km/h.
The police Motor Unit will continue checking the velocity of traffic to prevent excessive speeding and drunk driving.
The police remind the community that drunk driving is not be permitted and carries consequences.
