Abandonded boat and seven bundles of drugs discovered in Wariruri

Coast Guard (wardacosta) personnel were pending contact with the radar tower after a vessel was reported in the Northern coastal area after being seen coming from the South towards Venezuela. Police on the ground headed towards the area to investigate but did not find any evidence of a boat nor people.

The next morning, the Coast Guard was tipped off by some people on the arrival of a boat in the area of Wariruri. Upon further investigation, authorities found a wrecked boat with various jerrycans strewn in the area.

Various drug bundles were also recovered from the scene. The police, with the help of the Coast Guard and a helicopter team scouted the area for any other drugs or people that may have been left behind.

The Northern coastal area remains a dangerous place for people who try to illegaly enter our territorial waters and land both to migrate and smuggle drugs.
