Undocumented scammer caught by detectives

An undocumented Colombian man in Aruba is now in custody. He has been on the island for so many years that he has become fluent in our language of Papiamento. On Friday, his facade finally came crumbling down. The man will soon be deported.

The man advertised that he repaired washing machines on social media, and many clients called him and made use of his services. When he arrived at their homes, he dismantles the machines and tells the clients which parts are faulty. He then takes their money, claiming that he will buy the necessary parts for the repairs. Instead of repairs, however, he has been stealing money from these clients and never returning to finish the job. There have been various complaints filed against this man.

On Friday his services were called to Wayaca, where detectives were ready for his arrival. When he arrived at the scene, his vehicle was stopped and searched for valid documentation. The car he was driving did not have its papers in order. The police confiscated the vehicle and the man was afraid they would take him next. Because of this, the man decided to flee into the Wayaca wilderness, near the detective’s office. A few agents managed to surround and detain him.

The man was taken to the station where he will no longer be able to scam innocent people out of their hard-earned cash.
