It all started with government neglect, not just by the current government, but by those in the past as well. They may have built it, but they put no effort into maintenance. Just a few days ago the kiosk caught fire, which caused authorities to rush to Havenstraat to tend to the fire. At first, they thought the fire was much larger.
Upon their arrival, they were surprised to see that the kiosk was on fire. Smoke could be seen from afar. Authorities sprang into action right away, but there was not much that could be done to save the kiosk. As there was not much left over, the government was left with no other option but to give orders to DOW to tear it down. While any chance to start a business out of it is now lost, at least it is one fewer eyesore in Mainstreet.
