They fought till the end and brought home the gold!

The award ceremony for the ‘World Games Special Olympics’ took place on Thursday afternoon in Berlin. We are lucky to say that 24.ora.com was at the scene to witness Aruba’s badminton team bring home the gold medal. The two winning athletes are Mildred Every and Orlando Arends.

Orlando said that he is extremely proud to be able to win a gold medal at the age of 46, which he never thought would happen. The experience of playing together with a special athlete is something he will never forget. Mildred is also very happy to have made Aruba proud. She did her best and it definitely showed, no she gets to reap the rewards.

Aruba won first place in the Unified Badminton category. This is a category in which the special athlete plays together with a non-special athlete. Their coach Ruben Croes said that the duo played three matches today.

Congratulations are in order for Mildred Every and Orlando Arends for this beautiful accomplishment in Berlin.
