Wednesday night a citizen’s rapid response helped to save a wooden house from burning down completely. This occurred in Koningstraat at around 4:00 a.m. right in front of Manuelito’s Sports Bar. The police were the first to arrive at the scene, followed by the firefighters.
It turns out that some trash gathered in front of the house had caught on fire. This fire rapidly spread to the house itself, which was made of wood. A citizen who saw this all happen and started dousing the fire with a hose in an attempt to stop the fire from spreading any further. Some of the house was burned, partially on the inside and partially on the outside. Thanks to the citizen’s rapid action, further damages were prevented.
The people inside the house were evacuated due to the excessive amounts of smoke. It is not known who started the fire.
