Border between Aruba and Venezuela will remain closed until 2024

Despite all the hope, the Federal Aviation Administration posted an official announcement that the border for air travel between Aruba and Venezuela will not be opening this month. In Venezuela they were hopeful that the border would soon open, but this does not appear to be the case.

According to our sources, Aruba has extended the restriction for commercial flights and general aviation from Venezuela for an additional three months.

The decision mentions that the border will remain closed until the 2nd of January, 2024.

Negotiations will continue and if an agreement is reached in the meantime, the decision will be announced.

Apparently, “overflights” are permitted, but landing on Aruba is not.

Since February of 2019, The ABC islands have not recognized Caracas authorities. As a result of this, the relationship between the islands and Venezuela was broken and the borders closed. In the meantime, air travel between Curacao and Venezuela has reopened. This means that if someone wants to travel from Aruba to Venezuela, they would have to go via Curacao.
