Water floods past the shore on the south of Aruba

While our sister island Curacao is experiencing quite the storm, many believed that Aruba was getting away unscathed.

Concerned citizens contacted us, however, to inform us that the ocean was flooding in the Zeewijk area.

The residents of the area, as well as other citizens who frequent Zeewijk to fish or enjoy the breeze, started notifying us in the afternoon hours.

It is not only this area that is affected, but parts in the vicinity of Zeewijk as well. The area with a sharp turn could also be seen partially submerged under ocean water.

We have contacted the Meteorology Department, but have yet to hear back from them regarding any news as to why this could be happening.

IN THE MEANTIME IN CURACAO

In the meantime, Curacao is experiencing thunder, lightning, and severe wind and rain. The storm was gradually approaching and has likely spread to other parts of the island by now.
