Since the month of May 2023, Horacio Oduber Hospital (HOH) has started publishing its monthly numbers in order to be more transparent toward the public. These statistics serve to provide clarity on different services provided at the Hospital, such as general care, diagnostics, and blood donations.
During the month of September 2023, 786 patients were admitted to the hospital, 55% were women and 45% were men. Of these 786 patients, 464 were emergency patients, 199 were general admission, and 123 were urgently admitted through polyclinic. Each patient admitted to the hospital stayed in the Hospital for an average of 4.2 days. In the month of September, the occupation of the rooms was 87%. A total of 622 surgeries took place in September, which is 55 more than in the month of August.
A total of 81 babies were born (39 boys and 42 girls). A total of 214 valiant people donated blood at the ‘Bloedbank’.
The Emergency Department saw a total of 2640 patients this month, which is 48 more than last month. Of these emergency patients, 1139 cases were not actual emergencies. Specialists in service at HOH made a total of 6441 in the month of September.
The Radiology Department did a total of 4817 tests such as CT scans, MRIs, and more. A total of 11148 people went to LABHOH to do a test and 767 patients left the Hospital. All of these cases would not be possible if it weren’t for the amazing HOH team and their dedication to providing the best service possible to its patients 24/7.
