DVG offers influenza and COVID-19 vaccines to clients in care facilities

Every year, DVG offers adults over the age of 60, clients who are considered high-risk, or elderly people living in care homes the opportunity to get the Influenza vaccine. They do this to prevent our elderly people and those living in care facilities from being admitted to the hospital or dying due to serious complications that the respiratory virus can bring.

These care homes are known for receiving many visitors during the day and they also have a lot of different employees going from location to location. This flow of people elevates the risk of contracting a virus such as Influenza or even COVID-19, especially for the elderly. Both of these respiratory viruses are known for causing serious complications, which can easily be deadly for those over the age of 60 or those who are particularly vulnerable. This is why DVG strongly advises all elderly citizens, individuals living in a care facility, or those who are at a higher risk to take both the COVID-19 vaccine and the flu shot annually.

DVG will make sure that every care facility will be visited by a team of nurses to vaccinate everyone who is willing. To family members who have a loved one living in a care facility, make sure to ask how they can receive both vaccines.
