The security cameras near the cruise port area will have to be analyzed once again because it is highly unlikely that the blue horse statue fell over all on its own. Every time the horse has been found damaged in the past, it was due to vandalism.
This was the case once again on Thursday morning, with a lot of tourists moving around in the area, the horse was found on its side once more. This was likely caused by one or more individuals and it is now up to the authorities to get to the bottom of it.
Whether you like it or not, the blue horses are works of art that were placed there to serve as an attraction for both locals as well as visitors. Their presence is linked to our island’s history, namely the area of Paardenbaai. These horses were made by local artists and appear in the pictures of our island that go viral.
The damage caused here is not only material, but it also affects the reputation of our cruise tourism zone. We hope that those responsible are caught and that their identities are made public.
