Bureau City Inspector caught a resident dumping trash in Monserat

One of the areas around Aruba that has become popular for illegal dumping is Monserat. Sometime in the past, the Bureau City Inspector picked up all the trash there, but to everyone’s surprise, the area was rapidly filled back up with trash.

Not long ago, we were at Monserat to report an illegal dumping site. There was a significant amount of trash, and the Bureau City Inspector sprang into action right away. They cleared the area and made it completely clean. After three days of hard work, they vacated the site.

However, a resident living near the illegal dump arrived with their load of trash to soil the now-cleaned site all over again. The resident did all this in full view of the Bureau City Inspector. An employee approached the person to talk to them.

They informed the citizen that they had to remove the trash and that it is illegal to dump trash here. However, in their defense, the citizen claimed that the driver of the garbage truck had told them to dump their trash there, and that they would then collect the trash. According to the Bureau City Inspector employee, there is no way that this can be the case, and they gave the resident seven days to pick up the waste, or there would be consequences.
