Baby Back Grill in Caya Grandi burns down

Early Saturday morning, a fire broke out in Caya Grandi. Information came in that the restaurant Baby Back Grill was on fire. Police and firefighters rushed to the scene and efforts began to prevent the fire from spreading. The dining area was completely lost, while damage inside the establishment is limited.

The owners were present and saw with their own eyes how their business was going up in flames. Different fire units arrived and tackled the fire from various angles. They managed to get the fire under control, but the damage is significant. In a conversation with the owners, they explained that they have had many issues with homeless people in the area. Right where the fire started, these homeless frequent the area to indulge in drug use. Many times, the police have to be called to deal with these troublemakers. There have even been instances of them breaking into the business.

The bar was broken into one more than one occasion. One of the homeless individuals, Deyanira Krozendijk, made threats on Friday when they had to remove her from the premises. They recorded more than once how these homeless drug addicts break into the bar and cause damage. This individual is likely going to be the first suspect in this case. Security cameras will show who was in the area before the fire started.

Addicts often disable or move the cameras before causing damage or robbing the business. Finally, after almost two hours, the fire was completely under control. Fortunately, there is a hydrant right in front of the restaurant, which prevents water from running out during the firefighting process. The owner says that her restaurant is insured and hopes that it can rebuild to continue serving the community with their delicious BBQ every day.
