On Monday, a very unfortunate situation occurred where an elderly citizen went to buy some items at a supermarket in Tanki Leendert.
When leaving, he attempted to cross the street to get to his car when the driver of a Toyota Vitz hit him. To make matters worse, the driver then continued on as if nothing happened.
Luckily, a police patrol unit was passing by at that moment, and the witnesses began signaling, prompting the police to turn back to attend to this unfortunate incident.
The investigation in this case continued, and in the afternoon, the police arrived at a residence in Bloemond, Paradera, to address the driver who hit the elderly.
The police took this driver to the station for interrogation to find out exactly what happened and the reason why they did not stop.
The elderly citizen was left seriously injured and is currently in intensive care.
