Arubans living in the Netherlands lament the increase of poverty in Aruba

During Arubadag, our colleague Marko Espinoza spoke with several of our locals living in the Netherlands, where he had the opportunity to converse with the couple Gilbert Lew-Jen-Tai and Natasha Fowler.

Gilbert Lew-Jen-Tai has been living in The Netherlands for 36 years, while Natasha Fowler has been living there for 54 years. They see the situation in Aruba from a different perspective.

Lew-Jen-Tai indicated that the situation in Aruba is one of poverty and that the government is not doing anything for the island. He believes that there should have been a change in the government long ago.

There are many things happening in Aruba, which is incredible that no one is doing anything about. On the other hand, there are many Arubans who want to live in the Netherlands, but they need to evaluate many things before making the decision.

The Netherlands may seem like a promising land, but the reality is not always so definite. The financial aspect is something that needs to be taken into account.

One piece of advice he has for students who want to go to the Netherlands is to be well prepared. If you go to study in the Netherlands, complete your studies, and if that is the case, return to Aruba to help create a better future for Aruba and its people.
