HOH monthly figures for March indicate a gradual return to normal bed occupancy

Horacio Oduber Hospital shares the numbers for March 2024 with the Aruba community. These figures, in addition to providing transparency and information, give the community an indication of how many patients the hospital attends monthly, how many operations take place, but also how many blood donations took place at the Blood Bank, and more.

In March, 780 patients were hospitalized, which is fewer compared to February (811 patients) and also January (882 patients). In March, the average length of patient admission was 4.1 days. Bed occupancy during March was 84.9%, lower than February, which was at 96.6%. A total of 514 operations took place in the hospital’s operation complex, which is fewer than in February (551 operations).

The Emergency Department attended to 2950 patients in March, which is more patients compared to February (2806 patients). It is important to mention that 45% of the total in March did not require emergency care.

A total of 71 babies were born in March, of which 33 were boys and 38 were girls. In February, the Blood Bank of Aruba received a total of 154 blood donations.

Specialists in the hospital’s service made a total of 6791 consultations with patients, which is 436 consultations more than in February. The Radiology Department performed a total of 4499 tests such as CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, and more. A total of 11513 individuals visited LABHOH for their diagnostic tests. And in March, a total of 800 patients were discharged from the hospital and returned home.
