On Wednesday, Aruba’s men’s national soccer team played its first match in the Concacaf Nations League, Group C. Aruba is in Group B. Its first opponent was Antigua and Barbuda. The match looked set to end in a 0-0 draw, but Aruba came out victorious at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Saint George, Antigua.
From the start, players from both teams looked for opportunities to score. They took shots on goal but were unable to find the net. Neither Antigua nor Aruba gave up, and both teams continued at the same pace in the second half, looking for a goal.
Aruba dominated more of the match and had better passing. Both teams had one good opportunity to score. Aruba took five shots on goal, with one finding the net, while Antigua had two shots on goal. Both teams received yellow cards.
Substitute Mishawn Molina came onto the field and got an opportunity to shoot. He found the back of the net in the 90+3rd minute, giving Aruba the victory.
Aruba’s next match is scheduled for September 29 against Antigua and Barbuda at 7:00 p.m.
