The Guardianship Council (DVR) recently celebrated its 120th anniversary with partners from the social and legal sectors. The event also marked the official launch of the organization’s new logo and visual identity, along with the unveiling of its renovated interior and a newly designed children’s room.
DVR plays an important and sensitive role in the community, particularly in protecting minors and vulnerable individuals.
In a video message, Minister of Justice Arthur Dowers expressed his appreciation for the work the Voogdijraad has carried out in service of the Aruban community over the years. He noted that protecting minors is not always easy, as the organization may have to intervene in family situations and make difficult decisions that affect those involved.
At the same time, the government has a responsibility to ensure that when a minor’s well-being is at risk, the institutions responsible take action to provide protection and support.
The anniversary also marked a new chapter for DVR with the introduction of its new logo and visual identity. The rebranding reflects an organization that respects its history while continuing to modernize and strengthen its services to the community.

Another important addition is the newly renovated children’s room. The space was specifically designed for minors who visit the DVR, offering a calmer and more secure environment during what can be a difficult or emotional experience.
The protection of minors is a shared responsibility. Government agencies, justice institutions, partners in the social and legal support network, and the wider community all have a role to play. Within this network, DVR serves an important role in protecting the interests and well-being of minors.
