On Sunday afternoon, an accident occurred at the intersection of Oranjestraat and Wilhelminastraat. A Hyundai Accent was traveling on the road where it had the right of way when a light blue Kia, failed to yield. The Kia did not give way to the Hyundai and collided with it. As a result, the Hyundai lost control and crashed into the fence of City Hall.
No injuries were reported. However, it was later confirmed that the Kia was uninsured. Police have stated they are taking a stricter approach to ensuring all required documentation is in order. The repair costs will fall entirely on the Hyundai driver.
The Kia driver was initially suspected of driving under the influence, but this was later ruled out. While the driver showed slight signs of alcohol consumption, it was not enough to meet the legal threshold for intoxication.
