Police will carry out preventive checks, also known as preventive pat-downs, this weekend in two areas of Aruba as part of efforts to reduce illegal firearm possession and improve public safety.
The measure will remain in force through May 31, 2026. Checks will be conducted nightly between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am.
During these preventive checks, police are authorized to stop individuals and search their clothing, request that bags and packages be opened for inspection, and search vehicles for weapons.
The authorization applies to Districts II and III.
District II includes Palm Beach, J.E. Irausquin Boulevard, Watty Vos Boulevard, and nearby neighborhoods.
District III includes Pos Chikito, Sabana Basora, B. van de Veen Zeppenfeldtstraat, Kazernestraat, Marnixstraat, and the area from Caya Sint Maarten to Caya Nevis.
The police are working hard to strengthen public safety, reduce violence, and help keep Aruba’s communities safe for everyone.
