Multiple accusations are being brought against Alberto Groeneveldt. Normally, cases of negligence go to a TOM Session and result in a fine. But this is an extreme case of negligence for which it has been decided to bring the case to court. This is the first case of animal neglect that Aruba has seen reach court, as far as one can remember. It should serve as an example of how not to treat our pets.
Groeneveldt is accused of, during the period from the first of January 2024 to the 26th of March 2024, on several occasions and without any aim and exceeding all permissible limits, intentionally causing pain to an animal (a dog named Khaleesi) and causing the dog injury, harming the dog’s health by leaving the dog tied to a chain that is too short for an excessive amount of time. He is also accused of failing to provide the necessary care for the dog by neglecting to provide food and water as well as much-needed medical care.
He is accused several times, during the period from the first of January 2024 to the 26th of March 2024, as the owner of one or more dogs, of failing to fulfill his obligation to provide the necessary care for these dog(s), He has repeatedly failed to provide his pets with a decent quality of life and has failed to provide sufficient space for them to move.
