The Government has adjusted the Covid-19 measurements

There are now 8 people hospitalized with Covid-19, and 45 people have died since March.

There is an average of 10 cases a day. Thus, the Prime Minister announced that Aruba would receive its first batch of vaccines by the end of the year. This is possible thanks to an agreement with the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes shared this information during the Government press conference. She also added that the vaccine would not be mandatory. However, they will launch a campaign to remove any worry people have about the vaccine’s side effects.

She also announced the adjustments that will go into effect Tuesday, November 24, since the situation is under control. Families may receive a larger group of people but must wear mouth masks and maintain social distance. It is up to each family to decide how many people they can host and still maintain social distance.

Restaurants are allowed to seat 14 people at a table inside and 20 people at a table outside. Everyone must be seated; no one is allowed to sit at the bar.

Regarding entertainment, bands playing inside may consist of 5 musicians, but outside, a whole band is permitted but must maintain social distance. The music must be stopped once people start dancing.

The closing time remains at 11:00 pm.

The taskforce is seeing some improvement in how people are behaving and in following the rules. “The responsibility has to be shared for us to win. Clients correct others. That is what needs to be done, remind other people that they also have a responsibility.”
