The vaccine will not be automatically available for everyone

During the Governments’ press conference this morning, Minister Dangui Oduber explained about three vaccines with more than 90% effectiveness. The Netherlands has already made an order and is committed to sending some to Aruba and the other Dutch islands in the Caribbean.

How they will distribute them is not known yet. Minister Oduber hopes to receive them by the end of this year.

He also explained that the first ones to qualify are the people working in the health sector, as is regulated worldwide, then those who are 60 years and up and those in the risk group, like people with a chronic disease. “The vaccine will not be automatically available for everyone immediately because there won’t be enough this year nor in the first quarter of 2021.”

They will create a digital system where you can make an appointment to receive the vaccine to avoid the accumulation of people.

What type of vaccine Aruba will receive is not known yet, nor if it will be one or two doses.
