Jason Brown (SMAC): We must have patience and wait for Carnaval

Only a few days left before this year comes to an end, and Jason Brown, president of SMAC, talked about the different changes in 2020. He explained that the changes are obvious. It was his first years as the foundation’s president, and they had big plans. But 2020 made them reevaluate everything, and they had to sit and wait practically.

The hardest part is not being able to plan. Carnaval is an event for which one must plan way ahead of time, which was not possible. This year’s events were all canceled, and some had to take place differently; for example, 11:11 was a Drive-Thru. It was fun and different. Carnaval, which everyone is longing for, is part of our culture.

In 2021 it is planned to take place in July, and 2022 is being planned as well. That is the only thing they could do, plan and hope things get better, so Carnaval could be celebrated like we were used to. Jason Brown wants everyone to have patience. He misses it too, but we must have patience. People’s health is a priority, and we must be careful.
