Only debit cards allowed at DIMP as of January 1st

The Tax Department will enforce the debit card as the only means of payment as of January 2021. Only those who are 60+ and non-merchant are allowed to pay with cash at the office at Camacuri.

After a successful trial period and as was mentioned last November, the Tax Department (DIMP) will enforce the use of debit cards as the only means of payment. This has already been the case at their offices at MFA.

The only exception is for those who are 60+ and non-merchant. They may use cash but only at the office in Camacuri.

Nowadays, cash payment could create a vulnerable situation for criminality. Cash payment could also cause the spreading of the virus. That is why authorities from the Department of Public Health strongly advises the use of debit cards.

The Tax Department also encourages to make payment online through Aruba Bank or Banco di Caribe. These two banks are automatically connected to the system of the Tax Department. The transaction is registered with the same date in the system of the Tax Department. One must take into consideration the cut-off-time per bank. When paying online, you must use the Bill Payment option and not the Transfer option.

The processing time is faster, and there is a better flow of clients. Remember, as of January 1st, 2021, it is only possible to pay using a debit card. Those who 60+ and non-merchant pa use cash to pay at the office in Camacuri. The Tax Department ask every taxpayer to take good notice of this information to avoid any inconvenience.
