The government cannot intervene in the labor department’s decisions concerning layoffs

The local company Romar Trading does not think that the government is the right institution to decide whether employees should be laid off or not. The company, being affected by the pandemic, has decided to go to court after their petitions were not being accepted by the labor department.

On Tuesday morning a summary hearing took place in which the local company requested the court to order the labor department to accept their layoff petitions. The company is facing a difficult situation, like many others. There are active laws that state which authority decides and it is not the government’s place to intervene in these matters.

Attorney Mr. David Kock feels that the hearing went well and is now awaiting the court’s decision. This will be announced on the morning of 24th of February.
