ImSan becomes a hospital starting next week

Next week on the 1st of April, Aruba will welcome a new hospital. The news comes as ImSan changes its management which now allows for the internment of patients. The project is the result of months of planning and adaptation. The adaptation of ImSan into a hospital is seen as one of the successes for Dangui Oduber, Minister of Tourism, Public Health and Sport of Aruba. With the help of AZV, the Minister was able to reallocate the finances necessary to make the project a reality.

Director of ImSan, dr. Joel Rajnherc, explained that they are in the final phases of the project which included the renovation and expansion of ImSan. A project that started in July of 2018 but was planned years before that.

Finally, the project is entering its final phases in which ImSan will officially become a hospital where patients can stay overnight. The hospital will include a department called Shortstay. Here, patients can stay for a few days. It is not the intention that chronic patients will be staying in the hospital for more than 7 months. The intent is to provide patients who undergo more complicated surgeries and cannot go home immediately a place to stay for a few nights. Something that has proven to be successful for over a year now.
