The Medical Institute of San Nicolas (ImSan) was working on renovating various departments, such as central sterilization. It went as far as requiring additional medical personnel to aid in the sterilization process for operations.
the director of ImSan, dr. Joel Rajnherc explained that the equipment in this department works very well. They are very pleased with the new department and are able to provide the operating room with the sterilized instruments to use during surgery. The surgery department is primarily for problems concerning the eye, and for eye operations, however, there is also a part dedicated to regular surgery which entails surgeries conducted by orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, and plastic surgeons.
There are two operating rooms to conduct the surgeries in and one room that is specifically for eyes. When COVID first struck in 2020 it took priority over all existing patients. These patients were affected by other ailments, but there were not enough remaining resources to be able to tend to them. Now the situation has improved and the three operating rooms are being used daily.
