Number of COVID-19 cases is lessening

After a few weeks of Aruba experiencing a drastic increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, even surpassing 1000 cases, now we can notice a slight drop in the numbers.

According to today’s report, 70 people have recovered from COVID-19 and there were a total of 47 new cases registered. Of these new cases, 6 are tourists and 41 are residents. This number represents a 22% positivity rate amongst our residents. The total number of active COVID-19 cases is now 732 and the number of COVID-related deaths is 128. Two elderly residents passed away, and unfortunately, neither of them had been vaccinated. Our sincerest condolences to their families.

The data indicates a continuous increase in new cases of a weekly averaging to 91 new cases per day and an average daily positivity rate of 25%.

The hospital has informed us that there are currently 63 people admitted, of which 11 are in the ICU here on Aruba while the other 15 ICU patients are in Colombia. Furthermore, 38 patients are on the general floor on the island.
